Professional Clean Ups

Many people aren’t aware that they have the early stages of gum disease. Mild periodontitis, commonly referred to as gingivitis, is most often symptomless in the beginning. That’s why it’s so important to visit our dental practice for preventive care and perio charting.

If we find that you’re in the early stages of periodontitis, our first course of action is to halt the infection and reverse its affects. Scaling and root planing involves removing tartar from below the gum line and smoothing rough root surfaces of plaque buildup. By removing the source of irritation, your gums are less vulnerable to infection. We may also recommend Non Surgical Periodontal therapy to further treat and heal your gums.

According to ADA:

“A professional dental cleaning, also called a prophylaxis, is an important part of good oral hygiene. That’s because only a dentist or dental hygienist can remove plaque, calculus (tartar) and stains from your teeth. These regular dental cleanings can help ensure you keep your smile white and also help prevent cavities and gum disease”
